Our Story

A commitment to organic fabrics, sustainability, and healthier homes

Our Journey

Founded in 2010, Zexeukhar began with a simple observation: while organic foods had become increasingly available, the textiles in our homes remained largely overlooked despite their significant impact on indoor air quality and environmental footprint.

Our founder, Maria Lindberg, having experienced firsthand the benefits of switching to organic textiles after developing chemical sensitivities, recognized the need for high-quality, sustainable window coverings that didn't compromise on style or functionality.

What started as a small collection of organic linen curtains has grown into Switzerland's leading source for sustainable window treatments, serving environmentally-conscious homeowners, interior designers, and architects throughout Europe.

Our Mission & Values

Healthier Homes

We believe everyone deserves to live in a space free from harmful chemicals. Our mission is to provide window coverings that contribute to healthier indoor environments and improved wellbeing.

Environmental Stewardship

We are committed to sustainable practices throughout our supply chain, from supporting organic farming to minimizing packaging waste and carbon emissions in our operations.

Fair Partnerships

We believe in ethical business relationships that support the wellbeing of everyone involved in creating our products, from farmers to artisans to our in-house team.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability isn't just a marketing term for us—it's woven into every aspect of our business:

Material Sourcing

We partner exclusively with certified organic farms and mills that meet the highest environmental and social standards. Our team regularly visits our suppliers to ensure practices align with our values.

Production Process

Our fabrics are processed using eco-friendly methods, including low-impact dyes, water recycling systems, and energy-efficient equipment. We prioritize traditional techniques that minimize environmental impact while preserving textile craftsmanship.

Packaging & Shipping

We've eliminated plastic from our packaging, using recycled and recyclable paper materials instead. Local deliveries are made via electric vehicles, while broader shipping is carbon-offset.

Zero-Waste Initiative

Fabric scraps from our workshop are repurposed into smaller products or donated to textile arts programs. We're working toward a completely closed-loop system by 2025.

Our Zürich Workshop

Located in the heart of Zürich, our workshop is where we transform our carefully selected fabrics into beautiful, functional window coverings. Here, our skilled artisans cut, sew, and finish each order with meticulous attention to detail.

We welcome visitors by appointment to experience our fabrics in person, discuss custom projects, and see our craftspeople at work. Our space also hosts regular workshops on sustainable home textiles, offering customers the opportunity to learn more about organic fabrics and their benefits.
